About Us

Royale Wilderness is a mobile safari outfit based in Maun Botswana, established by Johnny and Natasha Ramsden in 2012. Our experience in the industry dates back to 1992 when we started leading safari excursions in Botswana’s wilderness areas. Throughout our experiences in the Tourism industry in Botswana, the apparent was discovering lack of space catering for private family groups, friends, professional photographers and other specialized groups like birding and others. These have become our passion.

We have customized our safaris vehicles with you in mind for otpimal game viewing with folding windshields, kitted with Professional Camera Mountings, and a fridge. All vehicles have charging ports for Cameras, Laptops and other gargets. Charging of your equipment while it can be done when vehicles are in motion, our recomendation is to charge your equipment between activities when you are back in camp.

The Landcruisers can take up to 9 Guests, but prefer to do 7 people per vehicle for maximum comfort. Families very rarely want to split between two vehicles if they number up to 9 and this is OK too to run a one vehicle safari.

All our safaris are fully inclusive and none participatory. Our Crew compliment, which is nearly one on one on ratio to guests, takes care of all the camp work, including the delicious 3 course cuisines prepared with a lot of love and tenderness over open fire, served at a large dinning tent, to preparing hot bucket showers for you and laundry.

When on safari you are accommodated in Sahara Deluxe tents that have an en-suite open top bathroom and a toilet extension. With private facilities for each tent Guests do not have to leave their tents at night to use the bathroom. Bathroom consists of a bucket shower and a short drop toilet. Two wash basins, a mirror and a towel rack.

The sleeping area is a spacious 12 feet by 9 feet, fully furnished with  steel cot/s, bedrolls with sheets, duvets, blankets in the winter and towels. Also in the tents is a rack to put your bag on. Both the sleeping area and the bathroom are illuminated by a 12v battery.

Lunch and Dinners are served under a large Mess tent 12m x 6m. This tent is the central part of the camp with easy access from all the tents. Early morning breakfast is usually served by the fire, and is a light affair. The Mess tent doubles up as a bar, with selection of spirits, Gin tonics, chilled wines and beer. There is tea station in the mess tent all day long, for tea lovers.

To complete the camp is the kitchen area, with its separate fire, and cooking area as well as the staff quarters. Meals are prepared in a separate kitchen tent, with the baking and roasting done over open fire.
